Primary School Settings - Reading Provision Audit
Primary school reading provision audits are led by one of our experienced Literacy Specialists and provides leaders with a clear, evidence-informed review of their current phonics, early language, and reading provision. The process helps schools recognise existing strengths, pinpoint priority areas, and agree on practical next steps towards securing excellent outcomes in phonics and early reading.
Eligible primary schools may also access up to £6,000 of funding to support the purchase of high-quality decodable books, staff training, and resources aligned with their chosen DfE validated SSP (Systematic Synthetic Phonics Scheme).
What a Reading Provision Audit entails
A fully funded day is spent in your school working closely with senior leaders and curriculum leads. The audit typically includes:

An initial discussion with the senior leadership team to establish your school’s priorities.

A learning walk with leaders to review language and literacy provision across key areas.

A self-evaluation of current practice using the latest English Hub guidance.

A co-created action plan that outlines clear, achievable steps to strengthen your provision.

Guidance on how to apply for eligible SSP resource and training funding.

Secondary School Settings - Reading Review
Our secondary school reading reviews are led by one of our experienced Literacy Specialists, it is a fully funded day spent in your school, alongside senior leaders
Reading/ Literacy leads, identifying great practice and establishing clear next steps to develop a whole school approach to reading.
Eligible secondary schools may also access up to £3,300 of funding. Funding is limited to resources to support reading, with a focus on readers who need additional support to access the secondary curriculum.
What a Reading Review entails
A fully funded day is spent in your school working closely with senior leaders and curriculum leads. The audit typically includes:

Preliminary conversation with the school's SLT to decide on school priorities.

Learning walks with a member of SLT to classrooms in a range of departments and to reading intervention groups.

Self-assessment of school's reading provision using latest guidance

Literacy Specialist co-writes an action plan with the school leaders, making clear actionable next steps to improve the provision.

Hub provides next steps for school to apply for resource funding (up to £3,300)
